The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic check by age 7. At that age we can see how permanent teeth and the jaw are developing. Most kids we see at that age simply need monitoring, with follow-up checks until the right time to start.
When treatment helps early, it can guide jaw growth or make room for permanent teeth. We will tell you plainly if waiting is the better choice.
