Invisalign attachments. How do you place them?

Invisalign attachments, also known as buttons, are small tooth-colored attachments that are bonded to the teeth to help align the teeth during the Invisalign treatment process. These attachments are made of a tooth-colored composite material and are virtually invisible, blending in with the natural color of your teeth.

The process of placing Invisalign attachments typically involves the following steps:

1. Evaluation: Before placing the attachments, we evaluate your teeth to determine the specific teeth where the attachments will be beneficial. We plan the shape, size and position of the attachment on the tooth.

2. Tooth Preparation: The teeth that will receive attachments will be etched and primed to ensure a good bond.

3. Bonding: A small amount of dental bonding material will be placed and shaped on the tooth, forming the attachment.

4. Curing: A LED light will be used to cure or harden the new attachment in about 5 seconds.

5. Polishing: The attachment may be polished to blend it seamlessly with the tooth surface.

The process is painless. These attachments will generally stay on your teeth until your next scan. At your next scan we will re-evaluate your teeth for further alignment. Attachments may be removed, added or changed at your next scan appointment and your Invisalign attachments will be completely removed when you are finished and ready for retainers.
